The Innocent Sufferer

Why did the righteous suffer? Psalm 69 is often quoted in the New Testament in reference to Christ's sufferings. Its original occasion was David's suffering though he was innocent of reason for it, but it applies all the more to our Lord. We see his cry, his cup, and his crown.
