We have a few more things to say about believing, before we begin to define the term 'baptism'. We need to know WHO Jesus Christ is and WHAT Jesus Christ has done. The Person and the Work of the Lord Jesus is vital to the Gospel and Church Ordinance of baptism.

The term 'baptism' will first of all be defined. John Calvin says 'the word baptize' means to immerse and it is clear that the rite of immersion was observed in the ancient church' (Inst vol 2, p1320, Westminster Press 1973').
In all likelihood, we will have to wait for another occasion to consider the truth which baptism declares.
