The Penitent's Resolve To Hear & Obey God

This Psalm presents the LORD as the respondent to David's expressed confidence in God's
sufficiency (v6 –7). Herein v8 – 9, the LORD is presenting Himself committedly to David as his
instructor and teacher. The LORD is committing Himself to training David in vs. 8 of our Psalm, so that
in response, David would be better placed to not only realize the restored fellowship with God – Psalm.
51v12, but also the LORD's equipping of him to "…teach transgressors the LORD's ways, and in turn
sinners would be converted to God" – Psalm. 51v13. What is evident in this Psalm is that the LORD
regarded David not just as His servant, the man after God's own heart, but David had become the
LORD's disciple and student. Transgressor can only know God's way of salvation and sinners converted
to grace through the lenses of the Messiah as David was brought face to face with the Messiah, who
would – suffer, die and be raised to life– Psalm. ch. 16v8 – 11; 22v1 ;34v20; 35v11; 40v6 – 10; 41v9;
69v20 – 21. And it was this Messiah that David was expected to present before the sinners for this soul
salvation.
Therefore, it's after this hearty disposition of discipleship that must be seen in those who fear the LORD.
