The Beauty and Mystery of Providence

356

Hugh Binning’s light burned brightly but briefly. He excelled in his studies, and although his weak constitution would not allow him to study continually, he seemed to retain nearly everything he read. He served as the minister of the parish of Govan (near Glasgow) only four years before dying of tuberculosis at the age of twenty-six. This sermon, the second in a series of eighteen, is from Heart Humiliation. It elegantly expresses his sweeping grasp of doctrine. “He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are judgment, a God of truth, and without iniquity, just and right is he. They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children.” Deuteronomy 32:4-5
