A Sabbath - Rest for the People of God

At Hebrews 3:7ff, the Holy Spirit warns against unbelief by recalling the faithlessness and unbelief of the Israelites. Consequently, the first generation wilderness wanderers did not enter God’s earthly rest in the Promise Land in Canaan (3:18). Now, in the passage of Scripture that we’ll consider this morning (4:1-11), the warning directly comes to us. He applies the warning of Psalm 95 to the Church of Jesus Christ because Psalm 95 is a call to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and believe in God’s promises, lest some here fall short God’s rest.
