From the House of Mercy to the House of God

In John Chapter 5 Jesus reveals that He is God through a miracle.

Today we read in John’s Gospel of the account of a man healed at the pool of Bethesda.

The encouraging thing about our Bible is that you can still go to some of the places that are described in the Biblical Texts.

Here we have the Lamb of God coming to a place where multitudes of people were in a helpless state.

The miracle is an illustration of the Grace of God. No one helped this man towards healing. In fact it was impossible for this man to receive any healing apart from Jesus. He could not get into the pool by himself.

At the house of Mercy after thirty eight years of sickness, this man finds mercy in Jesus Christ.

This man had left the House of Mercy and went then to the House of God.

The man was healed on the Sabbath and was carrying his bed on the Sabbath and yet the Pharisees did not even rejoice in his deliverance. They had overlooked the mercy and grace of God and neglected to show it themselves.
