II. The Local Church as the Light of the World

54

In Zechariah 4:7, we find the final fulfillment of Messianic prophecies. Jesus came to be the “cornerstone.” Instead, His death on the Cross became a “stumbling stone” to national Israel. In His second coming, He becomes the “headstone” or capstone of the Millennial Temple. This leads us to the sixth vision of Zechariah. This vision is particularly important to our understanding of the roll of glorified Church Age believers as a “kingdom of priests” (Ex. 19:6; in Rev.1:6 and 5:10 this is “kings and priests”) during the Kingdom Age. It is especially important in that it defines the objective of the Spirit filled life during the Church Age. During the Church Age, believers are commanded to “be filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18; literally reads “be ye being filled”). This filling will be continuous in the glorification of these believer priests during the Kingdom Age. Then they will experience the constant fullness of the Spirit and all which that entails. The sixth vision of Zechariah gives us an important vision into what this will be like.
