Calvinism. The very mention of the word is often enough to generate marathon sessions of heated debate. Churches have split over it, friendships have ended because of it, and there is no indication that the controversy surrounding this often confusing subject will ever end. But what is Calvinism exactly? Is it as sinister a belief system as it is so often caricatured to be or is it, as Calvinists claim, simply the word of God faithfully and accurately expressed?
