Do Free Presbyterians have authentic Presbyterian DNA?
This was the subject discussed on St. Patrick's Day, 2013 – 62 years to the day since the formation of the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster.
The debate was hosted by BBC Radio Ulster after comments made by a former moderator of the Irish Presbyterian Church.
• Defending the position of the Free Presbyterian Church is their Clerk of Presbytery, Rev. Ian Brown.
• Questioning the right of the FPC to be called Presbyterian is Dr. Laurence Kirkpatrick, professor of Church History in Union Theological College.
This is not the first time Mr Kirkpatrick has asserted this point; he previously made it in his book - 'Presbyterians in Ireland: An Illustrated History' (2006).
