Threats to Assurance

As the argument of the Apostle comes to its summation, Paul deals with those things in the world around believers that could make them think that they have lost touch with the love of Christ. Is there any possibility, he asks, that any external circumstance can separate one of the Lord's people from the love of Christ? The answer is an emphatic no, but in raising the question, the inspired Apostle has touched on the very things that cause the Lord's people to struggle with the idea of assurance of salvation. This message examines those threats and concludes that the love of Christ is the power that overwhelms every threat.
