A Ransom for The Many

Jesus used strong yet tender names for His people. One such name was "The Many". Sometimes He used the article of designation. Always, He referred to a definite people. In Matthew 20:28, Jesus declared He came to pay their ransom price and redeem them. Mark recorded Jesus saying, "my blood...is shed for [the] many" (14:24). Jesus prayed to the Father saying He gave "eternal life to as many as you have given me" (John 17:2).
