JC Ryle described Christ's discourse concerning Himself in John 5 as 'one of the deepest things in the Bible' - in it Christ discloses who He is, His relationship to the Father, His authority and right to judge mankind and a host of other things.

He also revealed how it was only through a living relationship with HIM that men can be saved from their sins, and that once they have entered into relationship, it could never be lost.
