Eternal Focus

We are told to seek God. We are told to seek the Kingdom. We are told to seek those things that are above. We are told to seek what is best for our neighbor. We are told to seek wisdom. Seeking here means ardent zeal and focus in pursuing these things. Nowhere, however, do we find the Lord saying it's fine to focus upon ourselves. Rather, the exact opposite is taught: Love does not seek its own. This means that true love never has self benefit or gain as the primary motivating factor for anything it does, instead it expends itself in the service of the King.
