Psalm 10 The Hidden God

'Why standest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?' (10.1)

I. A Question. Why should God hide?

A. These were terrible times for God to hide. (10.1-10, Genesis 10.8-9).

B. God hides that the ungodly might deceive themselves (10.11).

II. A Response: the response of faith

A. God hides that we may seek him. (Luke 2.48-49, Psalm 11.1-4, Isaiah 6.1-3,Isaiah 6.5)

B. God hides that we may pray to him. (10.12-15).

III. Our Assurance: Assurances although hidden

A. The Lord is king. (10.16, Daniel 5.1-6, 26-28).

B. The Lord will hear. (10.17, Luke 16.19-21).

C. The Lord will judge. (10.18, Psalm 27.10)
