    A right receiving of the truth evidences itself in love for one another which in turn serves to preserve from all that threatens the churchs' peace and comfort - The apostle's care for the interests of the church.

  2. The importance of finding all our answers in Christ v3.
    The false teachers' claim of knowledge apart from Christ.

  3. False teaching to be assessed in its detraction from Christ v3,4.
    Error always detracts from the glory of Christ and his pre-eminence.

  4. Fellowship in truth and godliness v5.
    We are never beyond danger and the need of warning - all that is good in the brethren should cause us joy and be a bond to cement our unity and fellowship in Christ.
