Uniting the Kingdom

I. Moses warns of the Future King Deut. 17:14-17

When they come into the land – they will eventually desire a King.

Think about those admonitions given to this future King.
    He shall not multiply horses.
    He shall not multiply wives.
    He shall not multiply to himself gold or silver.

II. Samuel warns them of their Future King 1 Sam. 8:9-20

A.  They are plainly told what this King will do  9-18

B.  In spite of all this – they insist they need a king   19-20

III. David Procures the Throne

    11:26 – one dangerous enemy – Jeroboam the son of Nebat -- 	the one given the northern kingdom of 	Israel upon the death of Solomon.
