Life After Death, Is There?

This is a brilliant sermon, as it clearly and powerfully answers this question. A question that niggles and nags in many non-christian minds, what if the Christian is right, what then?

Rev. Ken Elliot answers this question with an affirmation and then an illustration.

1. THE AFFIRMATION
   i) Moses, whom the Lord buried, appeared 1500 years later at the transfiguration.
   ii) Samuel whom had died appeared to Saul, when he met the witch.
   iii) Job stated he would stand before the Lord after his body had died and decayed.
   iv) The Lord Jesus advises, fear not them that can kill the body but not the soul.

2. THE ILLUSTRATION (Lazarus and the rich-man)
   i) Similarity they shared
   a) The conscience existence after they died.
   b) Fixed in those places forever with no hope of change.
   c) Their ties with others were very strong.
   d) Both have a limited knowledge of the happenings on earth.

ii) The diversity they had
a) Lazarus is in heaven, while the rich-man is in hell.
b) Dogs may have eaten Lazarus’ flesh, while the rich-man had a grand funeral.
c) Lazarus is comforted, while the rich-man is in torment
d) Lazarus went from suffering to joy, while the rich man from pleasure to torment
e) Lazarus has no more concerns while the rich-man is full of concerns.
