Christ's witnesses

The risen Christ commissions his witnesses. He offers a further reminder of the truths concerning himself contained in the Scriptures. He gives the wonderful gift of understanding the Word of God. He grants a new commission to declare repentance in his name as the suffering and risen Redeemer. He tells his disciples that the promise of his Father will be given to them as they wait in Jerusalem for a grant of heavenly power.

These realities remain the confidence of the New Testament church of Jesus Christ and the hope of every sinner who hears the gospel.
