Relating Rightly to the Law

Having finished the Beatitudes, Jesus segues into the next section of His sermon. He is about to explain the true nature, significance, and purpose of the Law. So before doing so, He provides us with a brief introduction setting the stage for His teaching. In so doing, we are provided with a safeguard against perversions (antinomianism & Legalism) of the free grace of God.
