Paul describes Epaphroditus in five different expressions in verse 25. These expressions give insight into what made Epaphroditus effective as a servant. These descriptions will not give us the full picture, but they help us appreciate what we ought to be looking for in fellow Christians. Sometimes we follow the world's philosophies and ideas-we look for those who are the greatest, the most influential, the most powerful or the wealthiest. Sometimes believers give all the glory to the preacher, to the best teacher or to those who stand out in unusual ways. Epaphroditus stands out, but not because of certain remarkable gifts.
