The Love of the Father

As we read the parable we can easily see the misery of this wayward child; we see his ragged clothing and his emaciated condition; we see the filth that covers him and hear his cries of remorse. It is easy to focus on the wayward son but what about his father? The father watches earnestly for his beloved son and sees him coming afar off. His heart is moved with compassion and he runs to embrace the broken child. This parable is a marvelous picture of God's love for His covenant people; it tells us of His amazing grace and unlimited mercies. Let us see here our glorious God at work among His chosen seed.
