Cultivating a Passion for Christ

What we do WITH Christ is far more important than what we do FOR Christ. There are three essentials:

1. Avoid the enemies of spiritual passion.
   a. Elevating service and ministry above Christ.
   b. External obedience.
   c. Loving truth more than Christ. (Is this possible?)
   d. Other lovers.

2. Pursue the sources of spiritual passion.
   a. Growing awareness of the presence of God as a person.
   b. Sit at Jesus' feet.
   c. Willingness to let God break the outward self.
   d. Desire to please God more than to impress people.

3. Practice Lectio Divina
   a. Read (lectio)
   b. Meditate (meditatio)
   c. Prayer (oratio)
   d. Contemplation (contemplatio)
