Why Do Christians Have a Lack of Confidence?

Hebrews 10:19-25

1. Because we have put our trust in the wrong things, we have no real confidence. (The Problem)
2. Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence… [xref -Romans 8:14-15; ESV]
3. Placing our trust in the finished work of Christ grants divine confidence. (The Correction)
   a. We have the confidence to enter into God's presence.-To enter the holy places
   i. Only belief in Christ gives us peace with God.- By the blood of Jesus
   ii. this belief produces a new way of living-by the new and living way
   iii. this new life is brought about by God's Spirit in us-that he opened for us iv. this work of God is not entirely spiritual, but played out in real life-through the curtain, that is, through his flesh,[xref -Ephesians 2:12-14; ESV]
   b. We have the confidence that all we need is already given to us-and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, [xref -1 Corinthians 3:10-12; ESV]
   c. We have the confidence that we are sanctified and holy-with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. [xref -1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV]
   d. We have the confidence to boldly be salt and light in the world-an Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. [xref -Titus 1:1-3; ESV]
