Acts 1:12-26

1. Review: The continuing acts of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit through His Church

2. The angel's question : what are you doing? (Acts 1:11)

• The question jolted the disciples into action : There is work to be done.
• Matthew 28:19-20

3. A Prayer Meeting (Acts 1:12-14)

• What is the first thing we so in a new situation? The first thing we do is important
• The disciples knew they were weak.
• Rom 8:26-27 - the Holy Spirit helps us to pray
• They prayed together - a first mark of the Church

4. Getting things is order (Acts 1:15-26)

• Judas' end
• Peter read the scriptures and was led by the Holy Spirit - 'Let another take his office...'
• Matthias is chosen
• The apostles knew there was work to do and were getting prepared

5. Application

• For Christians : soak your plans in prayer
• For those seeking Christ : 'What must I do to be saved?'
