Faithful use of the means that God has given us to grow in Christ will necessarily cultivate the work of the Spirit in us. You might say, His voice will become easier for us to hear. In contrast, neglect of these means of growth will necessarily strengthen the flesh and make it far more likely that we will yield to it.
