The Lies of Satan

276 ( 214 | 62 )

This psalm is a testimony:

  • to all sufficiency of God
  • to the nature of the Word of God and the God of the Word
  • to the insufficiency of ourselves
  • to the truth we need to rely on the Word of God due to our struggles (internal and external)

Our insufficiency is only overcome by the sufficiency of salvation in Christ, the indwelling of the Spirit, and the Word of God. Into this picture steps our adversary the devil who wants to ruin us and doubt God's all sufficiency and get us to think we are sufficient. The devil uses one basic method: forget God and His Word are sufficient for us. But he does not give outright lies. Instead he employs implied and insinuated lies.

This message focuses on the insinuated lies of Satan which are:

  1. seen in the pages of scripture - Matthew 4:1-4; 27:39-43; Genesis 3:1
  • if thou be the Son of God...
  • hath God said...
  1. seen in the church body of today
  • if these people are so sincere, how can God reject them?
  • you have your truth and I have mine and we will all get to the same place in the end
  • admitting homosexuals to the church
  1. combated by the promises of God
  • God's promises are always fulfilled
  • lean on God's promises
  • For every situation you are in, there is a promise of God
    promises in sickness
    promises to fatherless and orphan
    promises in trouble
