Pride Goes Before a Fall
Series The Book of Matthew
33
Self-confidence and pride are a stumbling block to our faith. There is nothing we can do on our own to support our self-confidence and pride. Our flesh is weak. Peter is a prime example of this: he is so sure of his loyalty to Christ, yet he falls victim to fear and denies Him three times on the night that Christ is arrested. Human pride and arrogance always precede a fall, but if we put our pride in Christ (and not ourselves) and humble ourselves to seek and do His will, He will steady our feet and He will always draw us back to Him.
