How we Deal with Conflict

141

One of the very first commitments a new member of our church needs to make is to live at peace with other members. We are obligated, by God, to make this work. It is a picture of what God has done for us in saving us. This must work long-term. People are different and people are sinners. If united church life is God's primary work in this world at present, we can expect Satan to be most active here, between Christians. If we don't know how God requires us to deal with our conflicts, our local church will fail. We therefore need, with earnestness, to pursue humility. This is not only for people who are relatively humble already, is is also for people who appear to be beyond hope. it is easy to become pessimistic about unity in the local church. If even married couples, who have given themselves to each other for life, because they love each other, find it hard to face conflict, how much more will different people united in a local church struggle? God's grace is always bigger than our ability to sin. But this grace only comes from God to the humble. it is important to know what this humility looks like in real life. This sermon explains six principles that will help us to deal with interpersonal conflict in the church through humility. I can't overestimate the value of this sermon.
