Series Oaths and Vows

If we vow to do something that is more than we thought it would be, we should keep our promise, even if it costs us dearly. (Psalm 15:4) But what should we do when we have vowed to do something not supported by the Word of God?
Those who vowed not to eat or drink until they had killed the Apostle Paul either died or broke their rash vow, because Paul lived on in prison at least two more years.
Jephthah committed sin when he impulsively vowed, and then he sinned far more grievously when he refused to break his foolish vow.
