Ready for Departure

Every day of your life is a one-time gift to treasure. It’s also a stewardship to embrace, an investment in eternity. As his execution neared, the Apostle Paul looked beyond his present pain to glimpse life from heaven’s perspective: “For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.” 2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV) A believer’s life is an offering poured out in thanksgiving to God. The Christian views death not as a tragic end, but as a long-awaited departure to a land of righteousness and joy. Paul’s final words to Timothy direct our thoughts toward our own finish line, and the reward that awaits Christ’s faithful servants.
