Jerusalem On My Mind
Series Series in Jeremiah (2004-2007)
41
Aim: To transfer our affections from Babylon (despair), to Jerusalem (good hope).
Doctrine: By faith, we are to see the success of the church (even from afar). This requires miraculous vision and a wonderful Savior.
Exegesis: How to trust God—even from a dire situation: do not fret, but receive His word (vv. 41-48); look to Christ, not circumstances (vv. 49-53); know that our God is King (vv. 54-58).
Further application: The requirements for supernatural living: a belief that what God promises is more real than the things we perceive, and an earnest desire to be a part of God's program (church).
Key phrase: v. 50b ''Remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come to your mind.''
