The Incomprehensibility of God
Series Westminster Shorter Catechism
36
Though you can know God truly through His self-revelation, you as a creature can never know the creator fully or in His essence. Be content to know Him as he has revealed himself to be. Humbly submit your mind to the Word of God. Stand in awe of the Lord of Glory. “We are speaking of God. Is it any wonder you do not comprehend? For if you comprehend him, he cannot be God. Let it be a pious confession of great ignorance rather than a rash profession of knowledge. To have a slight knowledge of God is a great blessing. To comprehend him is altogether impossible.”
