Zechariah 7-8
Series We've Been Expecting You, III
196
In the midst of time where it seemed as God was not working, God reminds Israel, first why they had been exiled (Zech. 7), namely the hardness of their hearts to both God and to His Word, and yet also promises God's work in the future of the nation of Israel, as God Himself will come and dwell with them in Jerusalem at some undisclosed time in the future (Zech. 8). We see—again—over and over that God kept His promises in the past; He will most assuredly do so in the future, to both the nation of Israel and to the Gentiles (of which I am one).
By the way, all of the this sets the table, for Messiah to ride in to Jerusalem, which we will see next time, in Zechariah 9.
Come soon Lord Jesus!
