The Wrath and the Glory of God

Moses is interceding for the men who moments before were gathering stones to stone him. How does he plead? Not on the grounds of who the people are, but on the ground of who God is. He pleads for God to reveal his glory in mercy and forgiveness.

The result of Moses' mediation is mercy for Israel. But Jesus is greater than Moses in this regard, for Jesus' mediation results in mercy and grace. But Jesus has a better plea than Moses, as he pleads his own righteousness and blood.
