Adorned With Godliness

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” In God’s eyes, truly beautiful people are those whose hearts are so knit to our Lord’s that His nature is evident to others. Satan, the god of this world, works tirelessly to misrepresent true beauty. Women, in particular, are constantly assaulted with the message that their physical appearance and wardrobe matter most when it comes to beauty. God’s Word makes the opposite clear: “For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.” (1 Timothy 2:10, NLT). In ancient Ephesus, some Christian women sought to “make themselves attractive” with
showy and sensual attire. The resulting disruption in the church distorted its ability to represent Christ to its community.
