Jesus' Authority To Bear Our Sins

Jesus is said to fulfill Isaiah 53:4 by His ministry of healing. First, He does this by His compassion, suffering with those who showed the effects of Adam’s sin in diseases. Second, He takes their sickness and illness by using His authority to heal them, alleviating their pain. This is a foreshadow of how He will forgive sins by using His position as the Son of God to atone for our sins. Finally, He bears our illnesses by the cost He pays to heal - the long, weary hours of healing one person after another, bearing the knowledge of just how many were suffering under the consequences of the Fall, and seeing how the age had very little to offer to the people.
