Cost of Discipleship

Thesis: While grace is free, there is a cost to following Christ. Many are told that problems will cease when you become a Christian - but in reality, trials will increase if you are a sincere disciple of Jesus.

I. JESUS MUST BE FIRST (v. 26)

• He must be before all persons and all things

II. JESUS DESIRES COMMITMENT (v. 27)

• Believer must be willing to suffer to any
  degree following Christ

III. JESUS IS WORTH IT (v. 28-32)

• Counting the cost - Jesus and what he commands
  isn't to be taken lightly
• Must deny self : Galatians 2:20
• Doesn't accept fair-weather "fans"
• He is highest treasure - Colossians 2:3

CONCLUSION: Is there anything/anyone keeping you from full commitment to Christ. What would be the cost of NOT following Christ?
