Introduction:
In this class, we will deal with a rather controversial subject about Christ's Atoning Work. Good Christians disagree on this subject and not taking the position we embrace confessionally as a church, and that I agree with, does not mean that those who dissent are heretics

I - On Whose Behalf was the atonement made?
(For whom did Christ die?):
1- Diverse answers to a complicated question
2- Limited Atonement
3- Objections to Limited Atonement

Who did Christ die for?
1-Answers
There are four possible answers:

  1. Christ died for certain sins of the whole world
  2. Christ died for certain sins of certain people of certain people
  3. Christ died for all of the sins of the whole world
  4. Christ died for all of the sins of certain people.

2- Particular Redemption or Limited Atonement.
a) Let us read these passages
b) Either God is Sovereign or He is not.
c) Christ's mediatorial work is a part of His atoning work.
d) If Christ died for all, then no one will be lost
e) Limited Atonement harmonizes with the work of salvation made by the three persons in the Trinity.
