He Suffered Under Pontius Pilate, Pt 2

The Lord was returned to the courtroom of Pontius Pilate after being examined and ridiculed in the courtroom of Herod. The Sanhedrin had found Jesus guilty of blasphemy, but they accused the Savior of other false crimes before Pilate. Jesus was accused of misleading the nation, refusing to give tribute, and claiming to be a king. Herod sent Jesus back to Pilate dressed in kingly garments as a sign of mockery and rejection of the Messiah. The suffering of Christ before Pilate the second time was a public scandal in the midst of the assembled people, and he was publicly rejected by his own people. Neither Pilate nor Herod found Christ guilty, yet he was punished despite his obvious innocence.
