Christ on Trial
Series Communion: Suffering Servant
85
As Jesus was arrested, bound and marched through the Sheep Gate into the city of Jerusalem, He was taken before the Sanhedrin for trial. These slanderous trial proceedings were conducted by the very religious leaders whose obligation it was to point the people to Christ, and yet Christ remained silent before His accusers. Christ was silent as a sheep before the slaughter even as the high priest pronounced guilt upon Him. The Lord through His silent suffering purchased His people out of the bondage of their sin and rebellion.
