Scripture's Sufficiency over Tradition

In his earthly ministry, Jesus reserved strong words for those who added the traditions of man onto the holy, God-breathed words of the Old Testament. There is no doubt that he would give equally sharp rebukes to those today who make their tradition the highest authority. He would confront the Roman Catholics, who claim that it is presumptuous to interpret the Scriptures in such a way that it contradicts their magisterial traditions. Over against this, the Bible proclaims the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture, which states that all of the words of the Bible are all we need to know and do the will of God. This sermon explains why the traditions of man should not be taken as authoritative and expounds from the Word of God the doctrine of its sufficiency.
