Last Days Living

95

Introduction

• If you Had One Month to Live How would you Conduct Your Life? (1 Corinthians 5:1-4)
• For the True Believer, though the end of His Life could happen at Any Time, But ought to Be a Scary Though, but Rather Stir Him Up to to Consider Seriously How He ought to Live the Rest of His Days in this World

I. “The End of All Things is at Hand (v. 7a; James 5:8-9; Hebrews 10:25; 1 John 2:18)

II. Four Exhortations that Ought to Characterize the Believer (vs. 7b-11)

• Prayer(v. 7b)
• “Serious” – Sound or Clear Mind or of Clear Judgment
• “Watchful” – Sober (1 Samuel 12:23)
• Love One Another (v. 8)
• “Above All These Things” (Colossians 3:14; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Peter 1:22; 2:17; 3:8; 2 Peter 1:6-7; John 13:34-35; 1 Thessalonians 3:13; 4:9; 2 Thessalonians 1:3; 1 John 3:23)
• “Fervently” - pertains to being persevering, with implication that one does not waver in one’s display of interest or devotion; that is one is eager, and earnest in pursuing his love for the brethren
• “Will Cover a Multitude of Sins” (Proverbs 10:12; Matthew 18:22; Ephesians 4:31-32)

Conclusion/Application

• As we contemplate the fact that Christ’s Second coming could occur at any moment, it ought to serve as a strong motivation to stir us up to conduct ourselves more and more in manner that will honor the Lord
• Let’s be earnest and effectual in our prayers as we approach the throne of grace with a sound and sober mind looking to Him for help in our time of need so that we might be able to love one another fervently, forgiving one another and seeking to preserve each
