Darkness and Light

The supernatural darkness that shrouded the scene on Calvary while our Lord was being punished on account of our sins is the indication that sin is truly horrible. But the cross provides the antidote to that darkness. From the cross, there streams the light of the truth of the Gospel. One of the malefactors came to the realization that while he himself was a sinner, Jesus had done nothing amiss. For that sinner, and for millions more over the course of history, the cross becomes the means of opening blinded eyes and opening the way to Paradise.
