Seeking to Please God Not Man

Paul's reminder to the Thessalonian believers concerning his ministry among them and his thanksgiving for their response in 1 Thessalonians 2:1-16 provide us with models of ministry and response to the word of God to imitate and thereby please Him.

1. Paul's ministry integrity among the
   Thessalonians (2:1-12)

*Bold gospel preaching in the midst
of great opposition (1-2)

*God-pleasing speech with a God-
entrusted gospel (3-4)

*Infant-like innocence and gentleness
(5-7a)

*Nursing mother-like care with the
gospel(7b-8)

*Self-sustaining labor so as not to
be a burden (9)

*Father-like nurture for God-worthy
living (10-12)

2. The Thessalonians' response to the
   gospel (2:13-16)

*Acceptance of the word from Paul as
the word of God (13)

*Imitation of the Judean churches in
suffering for the gospel (14-16)
