Paul's Purpose in Writing
Series Romans
With this second message, Paul's purpose in writing is revealed. His GRATEFULNESS to God caused him to do three things: (1) praise the Roman believers for their faith that was being proclaimed around the world; (2) unceasingly pray that God would allow him to come to them in person; and (3) explain that his purpose in coming was to use his spiritual gifts to establish and encourage them. His GOAL in visiting included a plan to obtain some fruit, both among believers and unbelievers, so he was prepared to preach the gospel there in Rome. Paul was GUILTLESS when it came to the gospel - as he defended it without shame or fear of ridicule. His personal belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ had rescued him by God's power, and given him salvation. The gospel of Christ reveals the righteousness of God and restores each believer - starting and finishing with faith in Christ alone.
