They would not believe so they could not believe

This is Jesus clear teaching on Himself being the light that they must believe in before the light is taken away. Jesus says that some people did not believe in Him because it was prophesied that they would not, by the divine decree of God, and that because they would not believe, they could not believe. This message shows the tension between the sovereign call of God and the responsibility of man.
