Introduction

I. Plea for Salvation (1-2)

“Steadfast love” is God's absolute commitment and irreversible favor toward His covenant people.

David is seeking two things from the Lord:

1. The blotting out of his sin.

2. To be washed and cleansed of it.

II. Prayer of Confession (3-6)

A. He has sinned.

B. He is a sinner.

III. Petition for Forgiveness & Renewal (7-12)

Repentance flows from the fact that he is already saved.

IV. Personal & Corporate Praise (13-19)

“Praise transforms petition from self-absorption to God's exaltation. True repentance concerns itself with God's reputation, not the penitent's”.

God builds His church by using repentant sinners as His laborers.
