The Regulative Perspective of Music in the House of God

Music by its very nature is emotional. Most of us are emphatic about what we do and do not enjoy emotionally. For that reason, the role of music in worship has been a source of intense controversy in the church for many years. But should our emotional preferences be of primary importance when we consider what God has to say about the use of music in His house?

Pastor Gary Hendrix believes that the controversy would not be nearly so intense - or sinful - if all God's people would prayerfully contemplate the Scriptures in a spirit of childlike meekness.

Beginning with the opening statement of the 1689 Baptist Confession ("The Holy Scriptures are the only sufficient, certain and infallible rule for saving knowledge, faith, and obedience"), Pastor Hendrix embarks on a 2-part series that seeks to address what the Bible teaches about the use of music in worship.
