The Gospel-Effect
Series 1 Corinthians
Paul's Plea:
"speak the same thing", "no divisions among you", same mind... same judgement",
Corinthian Contentions: "I am of..."
Many were choosing the side of their favorite preacher and the result was division.
I am of Paul - Those who followed Paul were mostly Gentile that loves his preaching on freedom in Christ
I am of Apollos - Because Apollos was from Alexandria (Acts 18:24) he was very well educated and eloquent; this drew the attraction of many well-to-do Corinthians.
I am of Peter - Most of the Jews were fond of Peter because of his emphasis on Jesus being the Jewish Messiah.
I am of Christ - This third class of people were the "super-spiritual" ones who either though they were of the earthly blood-line of Christ or just simply thought they were more holy than everyone else.
Paul's ministry among the Corinthians: He was the messenger not the Message; Christ was and is to be the focus of the church.
