The entire wilderness sojourn was crafted to test the faith and the resolve of Israel amidst the gravest of trials.

In order to show to Israel the fidelity of God’s Covenant Promise, He now instructs this new generation of Hebrews, so that they might inherit the promise and enter victoriously into the land of Canaan.

This was to be their inherited land holdings, provided they remained steadfast against the secularization imposed upon them by the pagan nations they were to displace.
